Practice at video editing, and poking fun at Simon Schama. He seems to spend a lot of time regarding things silently in his telly programs.
Music:
Lied Der Grossmutter - Robert Volkmann
Je Te Veux - Erik Satie
Opus 20 - Dustin O'Halloran
(Buy their stuff, I did and it's excellent).
Why this exists:
I was watching "The American Future" recently, and thought the art direction was pretty formulaic: "Simon goes somewhere and looks contemplative" with various mixes of commentary and stock photos.
My friends thought so too, but all the contemplation shots made me giggle enough to want to edit this together. I'm not sure it comes off as ridiculous enough, but wisha.
Great stuff!!!
I too have been inspired by Schama's power to look and emote.
He truly does bring history to life by just looking at things with an atmospheric sound track.
