Guys, the beatles have a main topic in there song (Julians painting) and they add things to describe it that sound like they have nothing to do with the main topic to create there own style so nobody would copy it... it's something along those lines, do research.

@RagnosRox meh music is interpreted through the ears of the listener, even if ya think differently than the band.........but can we all be thankful that this stuff was made. I mean id go outta my mind without it

As far as I know it's just about a simple drawing Julian did, people read too much into things. Great song anyways x

@RagnosRox My point was "boat in a river with tangerine trees and marmalade skies"
and "newspaper taxis" and ""cellophane flowers" and "Rocking horse people" and Marshmallow pies" were no where in his son's drawing. But they could definitely be present in an acid trip.

my father played this in our car always, along with his other old tracks, loved listening to it ;p
I also love how the sound varies in each of my earphones

@RagnosRox lennons son was frying on acid when he drew lucy...in the sky....with fucking diamonds, listen to the lyrics, and listen to how he says high at 1:29, there just giving the hints away, somebody was frying on acid when this song was inspired to be written.
-
@RagnosRox listen to the other lyrics, unless his kid was on acid then its about drugs
-
I love how all the comments are arguing if the song was inspired by john lennons son or lsd

@AnThRacKz I've seen the drawing as well, I saw a lady, inferred to be Lucy. She was in fact not on the ground, implying she was skyward, and I saw that she was surrounded by what I thought was a good attempt at diamonds for a four-year-old. Julian was even kind enough to announce to his father that is was indeed "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds".
McCartney DID say the song was about acid. But WAS he the sole writer of the song? John came up with it, wrote a lot of the lyrics, and SANG it.
Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.
LSD
Lennon's Son's Drawing.
Julian Lennon drew a picture of Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds when he was four years old, which was the inspiration for this song. It had absolutely nothing to do with lysergic acid diethylamide (or "acid"). If you don't believe me, do your own research on Julian Lennon and this song.
