You Leave Me Speechless One-Shot

"Grandma how did you and Grandpa meet. Mommy won't say anything about it she said to ask you"

"Oh sweetie that was many years ago when I was about 18, you see I had a prom at my high school and Grandpa was the 'popular' guy of our school. And you see I was a 'nerd' and it was a girls ask guys prom. I'd always liked him but he had a girlfriend and I knew she had already asked him. So I went with my best friend, Avan. Because the girl he liked was Grandpa's girlfriend. At the dance I walked in with Avan and I saw Grandpa, and I guess he saw me because he was looking straight at me with his mouth open."

"So what happened next"

"Well it was time to announce Prom King and whoever is Prom King can pick his queen. Grandpa was the Prom King but instead of calling up his girlfriend he called me up, the whole school gasped except his girlfriend. Know why?"

"Why Grandma?"

"Because they had planned the whole thing, Avan was in on it too"

"Really?!"

"Yes really, so I went on stage, got my crown then Grandpa and I went to the dance floor and danced for the first time together. While we were dancing he only said one thing"

"What'd he say Grandma, what'd he say!!"

"He said 'will you be my girlfriend', and well of course I said yes. Once we graduated from high school he asked me to marry him, I again said yes. At our wedding when he saw me his mouth dropped and when I got to him I whispered 'close your mouth you'll catch flies that way'"

"You're funny Grandma and hey what happened to Avan and Grandpa's girlfriend"

"Well you know Mommy's Aunt Elizabeth and Uncle Avan? That's them and thank ya baby girl, a few months later we found we were gonna have Mommy that was so exciting for the best day for Grandpa and me. Once we had her and she was growing, just like you, Grandpa never said much around me but he didn't have to because he'd just smile and keep walking."

"Well how did you know what he wanted if he didn't talk"

"We'd been together for so long we didn't always need words to communicate. But I never did ask why he didn't talk much because around his friends and family he talked a whole bunch and you know what he said when I finally asked him."
"What"

All of a sudden I felt two lips on my cheek saying "I said you left me speechless, and one day Winter, you don't settle with any boys that you don't leave speechless understand?"

"I understand Grandpa" Little Abby ran off leaving Nick and me just sitting there, alone.

"Ya know after all these years you're still the same cheesy guy I met at prom."

He chuckled and popped his collar slowly, seeing he now had Arthritis in his hands "I still got it baby and ou do too"

"Oh really now"

"Yup, know how I know?"

"What"

"You still leave me speechless" He grinned and pulled me up as we walked, slowly I might add, into the house we had built many years before.
