SHERIF NILAMBUR has got an inquisitive approach towards the human values, and its interpretations are immersed in his creations. Through his experience with traditional potters and craftsmen of various parts of India, he developed this art form which is unique and everlasting.
An artist without master
He hasn't got any academic or career oriented training in sculpture. He has no master. He believes that his medium is his master. When he was in architectural designing he realized the importance of clay as an echo friendly element, which is contemporary to suit modern days living. Within a short span of time, he has tried his hand successfully at wall murals which found places in various parts of India and abroad. The wall mural at art gallery of Kerala Kalamandalam is one of his prestigious projects in Kerala, and he participated in many national exhibitions conducted in Delhi and other major cities of India. His works also found places in private collection of many curators hailing from abroad. He has got appreciations from many governmental and non-governmental organizations for several times appeared in electronic media and got news coverage from leading newspapers.




Back to Earth
Back to earth is an organization - a ray of hope, to mother earth is molested by the modern vicious market system. The ultimate goal of back to earth is to create a healthy life style, born out of man and nature.
Back to earth aims at alternatives made of clay and bamboo instead of scarce materials like wood, metal and the anti-natural plastic. Also aims at innovations in uniting various elements like clay, bamboo and metal.
Finding out and uniting geniuses in the aforementioned fields to create new products and market. Rehabilitation of 'Kumbara' and 'Paraya' Communities who depend on nature and being crushed under mechanization are other main aims of Back to earth.
ACTIVITIES

•Visiting craftsmen who depend on nature to study their life style.

Terracotta Wall murals
The terracotta wall is devoid of any harmful ingredients or chemicals. It is being done with the magic fingers of the Artist. So each work is unique and everlasting. When the clay is baked in high temperature, the murals become hard and durable, the natural appearance of burned clay makes murals all the more attractive with a touch of folk tradition.
It is applied as a special art element for interior and exterior decoration. This is being used instead of painting and sculpture to beautify the wall. It is an eco-friendly element which is made through the natural process and applying the required ingredients. Abstract patterns, landscapes, graphic images to find a new medium of expression through this sophisticated technology.
MAKING:- The clay used for making these fine pieces of art has been dried and impurities removed by using traditional methods to control the shrinkage, hardness and color of the material. Different types of clay have been used which have differed metal contents. The preparation of clay and fire treatments are adopted and applied from the traditional concepts. The main craftsmen are traditional potters, who have hereditary knowledge and skills over the concepts.



FIRE TREATEMENT:- The finished works are cut into small pieces and then burned in a specially made kiln. The temperature in the kiln is controlled in order to effect color change, and this coloring is permanent.
TOOLS:- Bamboo tips, stone pieces, sea shells etc. are used as tools. But the human hands remain the most important tools in the whole process.
FIXING:- Each piece will have an individual number, These pieces are then mounted on hylum board using quality adhesives. The hooks are required to fix these murals will be there along with it.
LIFE & MAINTANANCE:- Mrithika wall mural is everlasting. It is washable. No further treatments or protection required after fixing.
