  • hobbexp is the man when it comes to these things. Great resource of information.

  • I know, I have been watching his vids for a while now. He is full of knowledge.

    Thanks for the comment.

  • as Hobbexp said, dont put your thumb on the back of the knife, hold the handle with a full grip then lock your elbow and use your shoulder to push the blade so it shaves the wood, gives much better control, most of all practice practice & practice, you will get there in the end - promise, if you rotate the blade tip up on one cut, horizontal on the next then tip down on the next, the curls will go in different directions as well.

    Good luck

  • Thansk I appreciate that. Im uploading a new practice vid.

  • hi, a tips, dont hold your thump on the back of the knife, you can look at my video,

  • Next time you begin to put the knife on the end of the wood your splitting, look for the natural cracks in the wood along the grain. Put your knife in or along one of these and the splitting will go much easier.

  • @MrIrishguy22 stfu

  • batoning is a real amateur move. just get an axe and save ur PARTIAL-TANGED MORA for proper jobs like skinning, food prep or indeed fuzz stick making

  • best wood for feather sticks is a long grain wood which is softer much like pine.

then as you feed the fire with kindling surround the fire with large dead pieces of hard wood this will dry the wood out after an hour of having a good sized fire toss a log on and replace its position surounding the fire. this will serve as you dry fuel being a hard wood it will burn for a longer time with a hot aggresive flame any questions mail me??

  • good job man, just takes practice :) moras are wicked knives. Never had a problem with one! Bought an enzo scandigrind trapper in O1 steel, very nice. chipped the hell out of the blade batoning pine. It goes in the kitchen drawer now. Back to the mora :) try cutting from the base of blade with the tip facing up more, cut along blade to the tip. Notice that the curls will go to your left as you cut. Your curls are going to the right. Just watch the grain of the wood always go with it :)

  • fist grip, not with thum on back of knife, lock your elbow, then use the part of the blade closest to your hand and push down straight, not changing the part of the blade
