Employees at Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) collected 9,849 pounds of canned and nonperishable food along with $9,360 dollars for the Union Gospel Mission of Dallas during their annual 'Friendly Food Fight' between agency departments, divisions and consultants. The fun food-drive competition to help provide for the homeless men and women of north Texas collected 4.92 tons of goods between December 1 and 16. Food collected during the transit agency's 15-year old campaign totals more than 167,000 pounds or 84 tons. That weight is equivalent to five 40-passenger buses.
