Ah, is that part of Nero's Domus Aureus on the Palatine or one of the other hills outside of the Forum? The last time that I was there, the part of Nero's villa that constituted most of the Esquiline Hill hadn't been excavated at all. The only indication that there was anything there at all was a rock-lined hole in the ground with a sign that said underneath lies Nero's villa. To still have preserved frescoes just like Pompeii, only buried in mud instead of ash, is quite remarkable.

Beautifully shot. It brings it all back. I haven't been there in ages and I see that some of the archaeological digs that were being uncovered in the forum when I was there, are finally open to the public.

Thank you.
The excavated rooms now open (at 4:40 in the video) are from Nero's reign. Amazingly, the paint is original, not restored in any way.
