How to import a new theme into weebly.
Weebly now allows you to create a theme an package it as a .zip file. This video by http://wetheme.weebly.com demonstrates how to install an already packaged weebly theme.

  • @bonez7b

zip them all by selecting all the files and zipping them (don't place them in a folder or anything, just zip them all)

  • @TheJosephwayne, it means that you don't have those files in your archive or more likely, your archive is zipped incorrectly. The most common cause is because you zipped up a folder.

When creating a Weebly theme NEVER zip the folder. Instead select all the files (including index.html and main_style.css) and then zip.

  • I was wondering what are the components to upload a template to weebly? I keep getting this error :Error: Zip archive missing index.html or main_style.css. What could I be doing wrong?

  • does the HTML have to be a certain way to ?

its because iUse photoshop to design my them then i use dreamweaver to code it and everything but when i upload it pictures arent showing up and im not even able to move anything around or drag and drop elements. Do you have any tips?

  • @killdead11 make sure that in your stylesheet the images are named properly.

e.g. If the image is called 'bla.gif' then in your css it should say background:url(bla.gif) and NOT background:url(images/bla.gif).

Also check your index.html document the same rule applies, image should be src="bla.gif" NOT src="images/bla.gif".

  • @killdead11 Make sure that the images, stylesheet (main_style.css) and index.html are all in the same location. There should be no subfolders. This may also require that you edit index.html and main_style.css to ensure that the references to images don't include a subdirectory.

  • so do you zip all of them or do you zip them one at a time

  • Nice but when I upload it to Weebly, it says "zip archive missing index.html or main_style.css" do you know what that means?

  • Video a bit of a waste of time but thanks for the links xD
