There's such a difference between the shows of 1979 and 1983. 83 was basically the last year of the first era

@eslubin: Completely agreed... the old-school vibe and essence started going down the drain after that. Everyone started getting hooked on emcees like Big Daddy Kane, KRS-One, Rakim, LL Cool J, and T La Rock... I have the ultimate respect for them, but the unfortunate thing about their popularity was that it led to a lot of people forgetting about cats like Melle Mel, Kool Moe Dee, Grandmaster Caz, Kurtis Blow, and Spoonie Gee... the pioneers who laid the foundation down for them to expand. :-(

@BLRD2MugenAndHipHop it all happens the way its supposed to happen brother. i have no regrets because at the same time the pioneers got greedy sloppy and arrogant. it is what it is. i'm thankful we have the party tapes from that original era. its there to understand if people can listen!

@eslubin: I completely agree... I'm not surprised that this ended up happening to the pioneers. That might explain why most of them are not still making records (or are only doing so EXTREMELY periodically). :-(
At least these tapes help to preserve the pioneers before they got to be this way.
