  • @panhead58ful Your point is well taken, but nobody can protect a riff or rhythm pattern..only notes in sequence....like "He's so Fine" lifted into "My Sweet Lord". That's why Joe Osborne ( backing Rick Nelson on " Summertime") had no rights to his bass riff subsequently lifted by everyone from the Liverpool Five, Blues Magoos and Deep Purple to name a few.The two tunes you mention only have similar off beat rhythms.
