@MrLowAltitude, exactly, so hence my first comment on Shane where he indicated that the Vet caught up, which it didn't. Personally I love AWD, if I would have the money I'd get me a GTR ... "if", but I don't, so I can't ;-)

@basslover352 Yes, this might be true too. But why would someone take the turbo out of an Evo? Why souldn't the Mitsubishi guys use modern technology if it's there? The Evos engine is designed to work turbocharged. The turbocharger is part of the engine! They built it like this. Because of that, I don't understand all of those arguments like "If the Evo didn't have... If the Vette was AWD... If the Evo was RWD...". The Evo is like it is, end of story. Know what I mean?
-
@MrLowAltitude well yea but the turbo is what adds a lot of the power. Well the thicker tires are better for the launch of the line but from a roll its not gonna matter if u had thick tires so its still gonna be as fast if you for instance floored it from 60mph. I think its fair to say taking away a turbo from an evo would be much more dramatic than putting thinner tires on a corvette.
-
@basslover352 That's true but I don't get your point... The Evo has an engine which was designed to work with a turbocharger so it does! What you say ist the same as: The corvette has huge ass rear tires. Without them it would be as slow as an economy car...
The Evo is just state of the art technology. The Vette (At least in some points...) not.
-
@MrLowAltitude Evo is turbo with lots of boost thats why. For every bar of boost it is equivalent to doubling the engine displacement. Without a turbo the evo would be as slow as an economy car.
-
@XpendableHero Wrong, they run low to mid 13's at around 102-104mph given a good launch. Evo x is not any quicker than the old one.
-
@XpendableHero um no a vete is faster on the drag strip and the track period given equal driving ability. From a roll an evo would get smoked. Does an evo reach 195mph? Does an evo sound like ass? Any model corvette also pulls over 1g of grip on the skidpad while an evo manages around .93g

It seems like muscle car guys simply can't stand to have one of they're greats taken down. All this argument is just dumb pride, the video speaks for itself. The Vette lost.....plain and simple.
-
@basslover352 I think its the price tag that makes the difference. I can have a car that beats a vette on the 1/4 track and road course for 25k less, hmmmmmm which do I choose?
-
@KristoffersonPT Actually Evo 8's run 12.3 stock and the Evo X's are considerably faster. There is a good chance he got beat by a stock Evo but it's no imbarrassment, the Evo is a formidable adversary in the Import world.
@highvelocity1000 AWD advantage? Bullshit man, there's no advantage! Sure european and asian street cars do have AWD but american cars have massive displacement which helps in 1/4 mile racing too. There's no "advantage", there's just different technology my friend... Back in the 80's, Audi kicked american asses in IMSA and TransAm races. What did you americans do? Ban Quattro from the racetrack instead of learning!

AWD vs RWD, this is the perfect example of how it turns out lol. The RWD catches almost half way down the track and by then it's all over. Love both cars
