PAL Model 2 Saturn - Swap Trick

This short video shows you an alternative method to allow you to play CD-R backups on your Sega Saturn.

1. Place CD-R in system, power on
2. As CD spins up to read outer sector, place official disc in system.
3. Let it load to the Sega logo, when this logo shows reboot (press reset)
4. Allow the BIOS sound to play and as the disc speeds back up replace the official disc with the CD-R

The Saturn will continue to boot as normal.

Can i use DVD-R instead of CD-R?

@Bluestreakteam No budd you certainly can't, the wavelength on the laser is designed to only read CDs, not DVDs. DVD wasn't even our in the saturn era.

when i do the second swap, the disc doesn't boot direclty, in brings me to the cd audio menu, what am i doing wrong?

I think its got something to do with the format of your disc, you need at least 1 audio track present or something like that. I forget the actual details but ill ask on IRC and let you know! Thanks

i have shit loads of games from a website called megaupload. it has every game out for the Saturn i think. i got that Mr bones :) but now I'm board of the Saturn and its back in the garage. had fun loading the free games using the disk swop trick tho. i got all the sonics too

mod chips are cheap & easy to install. Just get one of those. It'll save wear & tear on your CD drive.
