Revolution actually started in 1978 in Tabriz (and a few weeks later spread to all major cities of Iran) by people coming out of Bazaar-mosques and setting fire to the banks that Hojaber Yazdani had taken control of. Revolution had nothing to do with communist or socialist or liberal or even Muslim students! They had demonstrated for 25 years (from 1953 to 1978) and achieved nothing but having their meals in freezing cold canteens that they had broken their windows!

The 1979 revolution had nothing to do with students demonstrations; the revolution was carried out by the businessmen (Bazarris) who were worried about Bahais and Jews taking total control of Iranian Banks and financial institutions; the revolution was about stopping Hojabr Yazdani and Sabet Pasal!

2. Iranian students demonstrated against the Shah every year but did not achieve anything except breaking the windows of the canteens they had their free (state subsidised) meals and then they had to have their meals in freezing cold temperature till the windows were replaced (weeks later)!

1. What a load of crap!

Only a fool would believe that students can do anything or change anything. Students do not have any political or economical muscles; cut off their grant for a month and they all have to go begging for a loaf of bred and a roof to sleep under! Show me one example where students have been the main cause of a revolution!
