Check out my website at http://www.beyondthepour.com.

This is the third in my series of beers sent to me by fellow Youtube beer reviewer http://www.youtube.com/Chad9976. It's an oak-aged porter that's actually only 5.75% -- very low-alcohol for a barrel-aged beer. The porter doesn't quite stand up to the whiskey character.

  • Ya, that's what I thought! I did a review of this and thought the same, and was told by people that I must've gotten a bad bottle. It was most definitely too thin for the whiskey.

Although not whisky barrel aged, Great Divide's Rumble oak-aged IPA was awesome, and that's a lower ABV!

  • @BeerichiTuba We don't get the Rumble here in my area. I'll keep an eye out whenever I'm out of town.

  • Sounds interesting. Just a side point, i prefer the old intro "I'm the Endosymbiosis and I talk about beer"

    Cheers Daniel!!

  • @NYRfan4ever I'll take your comment under advisement and talk about it in my next vlog. Cheers!

  • @ChadzBeerReviews If I'm ever in NY again I'll keep an eye out, is what I meant.

  • @TheEndosymbiosis I don't think you'll be seeing bottles in Michigan any time soon. I think they're mostly in the upstate NY area. You can always come out to Albany and have it on tap (or cask) and it'll be pretty amazing.

  • @StumpyJoeJr There are some beers that are literally "oak aged ales" and are basically malty pale ales aged in bourbon barrels -- the point being to make a beer that just tastes like bourbon.

  • @BeerGeekNation The beer just doesn't quite stand up to the whiskey. It does get the mind spinning for homebrew ideas, though.

  • @elharlock I'm definitely interested in anything that can give a good whiskey flavor without the intense alcoholic burn. This one just doesn't quite work the way I want it too.

  • @ChadzBeerReviews I could see maybe liking this better with food. It's a solid beer but I didn't think the porter elements meshed all that well with the whiskey. If I ever see it locally I'll pick up another bottle just to try it again.

  • @BeerGogglesReviews Thanks. Definitely interesting.
