RARE RECORDING!! The Elgar violin concerto in B minor, Yehudi Menuhin in violin and Sir Edward Elgar himself conducted London symphony orchestra. They recorded one time together this concerto on 14th and 15th July 1932.

Sir Edward William Elgar, 1st Baronet, OM, GCVO (2 June 1857 23 February 1934) was an English Romantic composer. Several of his first major orchestral works, including the Enigma Variations and the Pomp and Circumstance Marches, were greeted with acclaim. He also composed oratorios, chamber music, symphonies, instrumental concertos, and songs. He was appointed Master of the King's Musick in 1924.

Yehudi Menuhin, Baron Menuhin, OM, KBE (April 22, 1916 March 12, 1999) was a violinist and conductor who spent most of his performing career in the United Kingdom. He was born a U.S. citizen, but became a citizen of Switzerland in 1970, and of the United Kingdom in 1985.

  • Those recording engineers at Abbey Road certainly knew what they were doing, nearly 80 years ago.

  • Menuhin donne l'âme de cette pièce.

Je souhaite Kreisler aurait enregistré aussi.

  • what a sound!
