This video motivates the use of a network of controllable projectors to augment objects in the real world with virtual content. By using multiple projectors, one gains the freedom of movement in an augmented space that would only be possible with Head Mounted Displays (HMD) otherwise (still kind of cumbersome to wear).
Shows some early examples.
Was made to accompany the following paper:
J. Ehnes, K. Hirota, and M. Hirose. Projected Augmentation II - A Scalable Architecture for multi projector based AR-systems based on projected applications. In Proceedings of the ACM International Symposium on Mixed and Augmented Reality (ISMAR 2005), pages 190191, 2005.
