Of course the output level was identical. It's a clock for god sake. That's not the point being made. The clarity gained from using a great clock will give many different psychological impressions, including the level at which instruments or arrangements are heard. But you've got to have a great set of monitors, AD/DA, controller and most importantly room acoustics to really appreciate a clock of any brand to its full potential.
Output levels arent as important as overall clarity, detail and added depth & width in your stereo image. A better test rather than a quick A/B would have been to listen to the Isochrone for a couple of days, then switch back to your old clock. You will definitely notice a difference, especially if you are syncing to a Digi002/003 or a mid-level MOTU type interface.
One more thing - In my A-B tests I checked output levels. They were identical. This thing is just like the hype about fancy audio cables. I'd like to see some real double blinded tests done with the isochrone.
I had one and returned it within a week. It's totally psychology at work - all expectations. I swear at first I was totally blown away by the thing. Then, I sat down objectively and I did A-B tests for 3 days wanting so badly to hear improvements... or even any difference. It just wasn't there. Don't waste your money.
