I wish they could make a film version of this story in the same vein as the LOTR movies, just so I could see this fight! This would be one of the most epic and intense battles ever on screen, and Morgoth would be an incredibly fearful villain. Unlike Sauron in LOTR you can actually see him, and he comes out and does battle, instead of hiding in his tower like a lazy ass dork.

@wubafwez Feanor had more guts , he stood against all the Valar not just Melkor.

You are not allone. ^^
I think the "Silmarillion" Trillogy will come. Earendil as the hero maybe or 3 heros for each age?
And in the beginning there was only Iluvatar and the Valar, Maiar and so on.
He was like the father, they were like his children. I think that picture would be a good intro.
Maybe with a short view on the child who wander alone, away from the group. Melkor of course. And only fans would realize who he is. With a voice introducing us like in Lord of the Rings.

Hey, why everyone's drawing Nolofinwe's hair blond? It was said in Silmarillion, that only Arafinwe and his children was fair-haired. Even Ted Nasmith don't see this -.-'' Eh, it annoying.

very few of those drawings are good
for an epic battle from tolkien's world
this is pretty bad

the bravest elf that ever lived

@Crichjo32 dont say crazy things

@Crichjo32 Well, it is quite hard for Sauron to do anything considering he has no physical body. But when he had, he fought.

and I'd just like to say, it's terribly sad that Morgoth has been reduced to the name of a stupid death metal band I mean, for "creative artists" (lol) they sure have an un-creative name. And how'd they get the rights to that anyways?

this was one of my favorite stories in the Silmarillion...nothing beats "Of Beren and Lúthien," but this is a great story too.

@Fingolfin1394 Morgoth's initial form was "...as a mountain that wades in the sea and has its head above the clouds and is clad in ice and crowned with smoke and fire; and the light of the eyes of Melkor was like a flame that withers with heat and pierces with a deadly cold.". Given that his head was above the clouds it seems reasonable to assume he was a pretty big guy...he DID change when he lost the title of Melkor and took the form of the Dark Lord "tall and terrible" mind you...
And it happened again. This video, too, got muted :-(. Thanks, WMG :-(.
The music for this was an excerpt from "The Black Rider" from the Lord of the Rings soundtrack.
Maybe you appreciate this vid´s wonderful artwork even without music ;-).

The picture at 0:23 is mine. Thanx for using it. I can't believe it, that I've just saw it here.

I like your Melkor drawings at deviantART, they´re really well done! Would you mind if I´d use some more of them for maybe another Morgoth video?

I don't know why Morgoth is always shown as larger than life. It is never said that he was a giant just the he was terrible.

In the Silmarillion it is said that "He (Morgoth) stood before the king like a tower, iron-crowned..." According to this, Morgoth was quite a lot taller than Fingolfin, but that doesn´t have to mean he was a giant, I agree with you.

There's a big misconception in most of the pictures...
Grond, the Hammer of Hell, is actually a Mace... Quite misleading huh?
Finners0 3 years ago
If Grond looks like a real "hammer" or more like a kind of "mace" depends on your own imagination I think. Anyway, both are lethal weapons which I wouldn´t want to be hit with ;-).
