Elvis Presley Blue River
Written by Paul Evans and Fred Tobias. Elvis recorded it May 27, 1963 at RCAs Nashville Studios. The single was not released until December 1965, and reached #95 on the Hot 100 Chart. It was the B-side to Tell Me Why, which had been recorded nine years earlier in 1957. It is available on From Nashville to Memphis, The Essential 60s Masters, and The Lost Album, which is where this version is from.

Blue River,
It can't be found on any map that I know
But it's the place where lonely lovers all go
To cry their tears,
Blue River
It winds along a path of heartache and pain
Of broken dreams from lovin' someone in vain
The way that I loved you, and baby I still do

I held you so tight
You were out of my sight
I'm feelin' so low
But I gotta go
Blue River
Because you never really cared about me
From now on baby that's where I'm gonna be
Cryin' over you, by the river of blue

I held you so tight
You were out of my sight
I'm feelin' so low
But I gotta go
Blue River
Because you never really cared about me
From now on baby that's where I'm gonna be
Cryin' over you, by the river of blue

  • The original single and Double Trouble bonus song version had two intrumental breaks...well the first break was edited and repeated to make the track longer xx

  • RCA's timing for releasing songs made no sense..
