Zenyatta has defeated Grade I or Group 1 winners Gio Ponti, Twice Over, 2009 Belmont Stakes winner Summer Bird, Colonel John, Richard's Kid, 2009 Kentucky Derby winner Mine That Bird, Rip Van Winkle, Einstein, Ginger Punch, Hystericalady, Life Is Sweet, Tough Tiz's Sis, Romance Is Diane, Double Trouble, Sealy Hill, Cocoa Beach, Santa Teresita, Carriage Trail, and Music Note. She has won fourteen races from as many starts, twelve of these being Graded stakes races including eight Grade I events. [1] She is one of only a few undefeated horses in American Thoroughbred racing history, which include the immortal Colin and the "super filly" Personal Ensign.

@ZenyattaLuver Years ago, in the late '60s, early '70s, I rode with the man who owned & trained Mr. Ed, Les Hilton. I asked him one time what was the first thing he looked at in a prospective horse. Not legs, teeth, hooves, or age. He said he looked at a horse's eyes. He wanted to see if the horse had a 'kind eye'. She would have passed his test with flying colors. That makes perfect sense when you think about it, & it's the same with people.

When she was running I always wondered what the other owners & trainers thought in the saddling paddock before the race. Jockeys, too. There had to be a sinking feeling in the pit of the stomach. Kind of like, 'Uh-Oh. Here we go again.'. She would have made a great dressage horse.
