They can access and display by the kanji rom.

They weren't. Most Famicom games used Kana, yes, but right now the japanese versions of Castlevania III, all three Ninja Gaiden games and Bionic Commando spring to mind, they all use Kanji.

Good question: being PC-88 an 8-bit machine (unlike 16-bit PC-98), how could it display Kanji (which requires at least 16 bits per character)? In comparison, Famicom/NES (and perhaps most other 8-bit consoles I am aware of) was limited to 8-bit Roman and Kana.
