@WoodenYouKnowIt This is just the accurate way, in the songs original tuning. I'm sure there are other videos in standard tuning, but they won't be accurate. If you plan on playing along with the song you're gonna have to tune it anyway lol

I'm playing this at my fathers wedding in a few weeks. I doubt I'll have a 12 string by then, so hopefully I can get away with a 6, even though it's not quite as full a sound. This video has helped me immensely, because I hadn't heard this tune until it became an obligation. I've got 2 weeks, so this was a def crash course. Thanks a lot!

@gphillips6250 He is offering variations of chords. His chords are accurate. Quit being an ass and nit-picking. If you were at all an accomplished guitarist you'd realize that there are numerous variations on any guitar chord. Just enjoy this video and the song performed by a consummate musician.

You misidentify some of the chords. What you call a G5 is not, but s.imply a G or a G with the B string fretted at the D note. Look at a guitar chord chart. Also you are not
playing a true C9. Your effort is fine but you confuse folks with incorrect chords.

Hey thanks for the tips. I was asked to play this song two days before a wedding so I needed to scramble and came right to you. It put me on the fast track, thank you:)

@THARN393 You're not getting the sense of what I'm saying. Goldhat3 is teaching this song in the OPEN position but since his guitar is tuned down below standard pitch, a student that wants to learn this is forced to also tune down if he wants to play along. GET IT? If GOLDHAT3 would use the capo, any student arriving here would not have to retune to play along. I'm not saying that the STUDENT should use the capo, but rather, GOLDHAT3. THARN393 you obviously don't know shit about the guitar!
-
jeeeze--- over reaction is an understatement for your post- if you know how a capo works then you can capo 'your' guitar a few frets higher instead couldnt you?
-
Ok, I have a bone to pick! If you're going to offer guitar lessons, DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT expect a student to come here wanting to learn only to find that he needs to retune his guitar down a full step just so he can stay with you. That's just plain WRONG!! If you're guitar is tuned down, why don't YOU put a capo at the 2nd fret. That way you don't have to tune up and no one else needs to tune down. I'm going to go look for a better tutorial. JEEEEEZE I just don't feel like tuning and tuning.

Thank you Darlin - my sister taught me this when I was about 13 (she was 18) and we played it over and over (this was in the late 60s! YIKES! She's been gone for 15 years but her daughter is getting married in June and I'd love to be able to play it!
i'm not sure what i'm doing wrong! the whole guitar is tuned down a whole step, correct? not just a drop d tuning in which the 1st and 6th strings are tuned down to a d? i've tried both variations, and it is not sounding correct

Thanks for the lesson in this song. I'm playing at my daughters rehearsal dinner and thought I would surprise her with this tune. I just found a really sweet Ovation Elite 12 string and it sounds incredible.I can't wait to surprise her.

First off I would like to thank you for this video which helped me immensely . When my daughter chose this song for her upcoming wedding in the fall, I got the lame brained idea that I might be able to play it for her at the wedding. The problem was I hadn't picked up my guitars in over 20 years! Thanks to your video I feel confident that will be ready to play at her wedding. Again I sincerely thank you as does my daughter.
