this is by far my favorite snowblower from a moving snow point of view. both stages are designed very well and throw any amount or type of snow very far. the belt change mechanism is also ingenious.
however of all the snowblowers ive had, this is by far the WORST when it comes to user interface (controls). those two knobs are individual wheel clutches. that is the only way to steer. when they are both locked, it is near impossible to steer left or right (machine probably weights 30,000lbs.)
more gripes: the main drive is one of those 90deg rubber wheel drives, which is also a terrible design PERIOD. for reverse, you have to hold the stupid shifter knob while you back up.
those little flapper things on the handles are kill switches. you have to hold at least one down while doing ANYTHING or the engine will die.
do u know how much it cost new?

I have a similar vintage 5-24 and I love the tranny operation shifter.... very ergonomically friendly! I need to ditch it and get one of these 32" ers though. Mine doesn't have the balls.
