Not exactly anyone's fault, simple misunderstanding between the boarder and paddler.... the paddler was probably waiting for the surfer to move and the boarder was probably excepting him to go round him. How's that?

I am a hillbilly redneck banjo playing good ole boy and i see any surfers in my neck of the woods and they are gonna end up squealing like little piggies.

@rhinohippo what's wrong with being a commie? or a homo?

@mdvga1 I'm the dummie! I didn't watch the video closely enough. I see now the SUP guy is indeed just "surfing" a wave and the kayaker is coming downstream.

Bunch of dummies, the SUPer wasn't "surfing a wave" when he hit the kayaker, he was paddling just like a kayaker does, however, a SUP is not as meaneuverable as a kayak. If they were on a highway and this had been a traffic accident, the kayaker would have been cited for pulling into oncoming traffic. Situational awareness is critical to risky sports.

SUP could have easily stopped surfing to let kayaker by. Could have killed the guy if not for kayakers helmet, but many inflatable kayak riders are not helmeted. SUP guy is just a plain flat out jerk like so many nimrod surfers.

that sucks

Yiu won :-)
I kayak for a living and if that dumb ass kayaker is that unaware what is in front of him he deserves to get hit it could of been a undercut that would teach him to keep his eye open surfer has as much right as up stream learn to play the game or get the hell out P Love

Take any Kayaking or Open Boat class and you'll learn the person moving down stream with the flow of the river has the right-of-way. If that had been a raft I bet SUP would not have stayed in the surf. You may be competent enough to play in a surf but the person coming down stream may not be competent enough to maneuver away from you. You can always argue with that logic, but you'll also be in a lot more of these videos.
