  • sensei stefan, have you trained in the aiki no kumi uchi kata?

  • @heathirving, I don't know what it is, so probably I haven't. Is it something from Saito sensei's system, or from Chiba sensei, or someone else?

  • @Aikidostenudd

kumi uchi system is actually from jujutsu, and involves a clench, like a hug,and stems from the days of two armoured warriors in this clench one setting the other up for an attack from the rear from another samurai.

there are a number of techniques in this kata, for aiki, shihonage, koshinage, iriminage, aikiotoshi, and a number of others.it would be great if all aikido schools incorporated this kata, for use against close quarter attacks

  • @heathirving, so you refer to the old kumiuchi. Ok, that I have heard about, but never tried.

  • I KNOW ikkyo works, but if the only resistance we encountered on the street is more application of strength, aikido would be allot easier to apply. True resistance is him grabbing and smacking, letting go when he felt his balance being taken. Aikido works against resistance, but this just demonstrated it working again brute strength, and they are two very different things.

  • @KurtCobain198666, you are certainly right. Here, I just show one aspect of resistance, although not an unimportant one. Other forms of resistance are mainly solved with speed.

  • True, your resistance is verbal. Then, no skirt is needed.

  • boring... the opponents sou could not have seem to uninterested in actually resisting the resisting that it is just plain boring... you could not have added in just 1 example of this actually being used in action?

  • @smrki1 My question, using your shitty little metaphor, would be literally asking what's to stop someone from countering your left when you're jabbing? There's no need to be a defensive little cunt about it. Or do you always automatically assume someone posting a query about anything automatically means they didn't like it. or hell, even if they didn't like it, that doesn't mean some little patronizing cunt needs to inform them what to do. What a stupid fuck you are.

  • @joemanses The same things stoping a boxer from using his right uppercut when he is practising his left direct. It is training dude, where you practice a specific technique, not a death match. If you don't like Aikido do not watch Aikido videos. Simple, isn't it?

  • what's to stop them from using the other arm, or their legs, or their body weight, joints, etc.

  • If the nage is the the teacher, he´s still an apprendice.

  • i love aikido. im going to start incorparting it into my regime of fighting. this is a controlling art. it would work well in conjunction with gracie jiu jitsu. which is my main art.

  • @electronikita Who knows? :-) I was trying to get you to explain why you think sparring is so important - or why you think it's relevant in the context of a real fight. Have you actually ever had a full flown fight where someone is REALLY trying to hurt you? By 'hurt you' I mean trying to put you in hospital. Ever been properly hit with something like a lump of wood round the back of the head? I just wondered how you think you'd react with no referee to step in and stop the carnage...

  • @markaval TMA = Traditional martial art. At this point I can't even tell if you're really stupid or trolling REALLY hard....
