This is a great drill for both mature and younger players. Fielding from the knees is a great way to get players seeing the ball better, reading hops better, and fielding the ground ball out in front, instead of back between their legs. Try it out, and let me know what you think.

I use the drill with both college players and 8 year olds

  • i have a peewee baseball team..9-10 yrs old kids..they are rookies..they never play baseball,i see this vid and i think this is a excellent drill and technique..i start using this exercise with the boys and works great!!...is a baseball 1.1...thanks coach!!

  • With the legs in that position and sitting back on the heels like that applies way too much hyper extension and potential knee injury.

  • I wish I had someone show me this when I was growing up. Nice drill.

  • a good thing ive found for this drill is to have the player stick the bill of their hat into their mouth so it limits sight and will force them to catch it out in front

  • thanx 4 taking d time 2 help out

  • nice

  • thanks for this one. haven't seen it yet, but I will use it tonight on my 14U's...
