A track from Germany's jazz funk band "Peter Götzmann's Jazz Hop Rhythm". This is a preview of their forthcoming live CD "Radio and Headphones", due March 22, 2009. More info on http://www.jazzhop.de.
I love how they turn this Prince tune into something moody yet eerie. The groove flows at a steady pace, creating space for unpretentious sax and guitar solos. You can hear that these guys have no need to show off. This is music for grown-ups, not kiddie stuff.
