MR2 5VZ V6 swap with GT35R turbo

1991 Toyota MR2 with a 5VZ-FE V6 turbo. Turbo is a GT35R .82 housing with a T4 flange. Problems with the MegaSquirt 2 limited the run to 5500RPM, but made 296rwhp and 286lbs/ft torque in a 110deg bay at 9psi. I will be rebuilding the motor soon with forged pistons and a free-er flowing 3" exhaust and turning up the boost.

@glowboi209 I'm using the Soloara's E53 5 speed transmission's guts swapped into an MR2 turbo's E153 case. I've also got a stock MR2 LSD in the case.

@pathdestroyer sorry for the late reply, you've probably already found a turbo to go with, but if not i'd suggest lookking into holset hx35's or hy35's

gt35r on 9 lbs? thats baby boost for that basketball-sized turbo.

Sounds like some rpms would help. How are you doing the ignition? are you using the coil packs?

impressive.....i am also considering a V6 swap for my MR2....and honestly i am inclined toward 5vz-FE because of it being cheap,more displacement, and stock strong internals....but what i dont know if its cost effective to put turbo on it....mind guiding me ?
