This is a clip from the phabulous philm "The Town and the Telephone", which just happens to be an Owen Murphy Production. Some of us who grew up in New York State have a particular fondness (right up there with Jane Barbe) to the standard voice used by NY Telephone in the 1960's/'70's, which Evan Doorbell in his recordings calls "The Owen Murphy Voice". So, when watching "The Town and the Telephone", I listened very carefully to see if "She" was in it. Actually, I think it's this woman who calls the Information Operator and asks for the number for the meat market. She appears only in this one scene.
If you too are a fan of the "Owen Murphy Voice", I'd love to know if you think it's really "Her"!
(Note: The ringing sound before the operator answers and the noise when she disconnects were sampled from Evan Doorbell's phantastic Phonetrips.com library of telephone sounds)
I think you're right. I think it's the same woman.
