A song written by Kerry Livgren and Steve Walsh
Artist: Kansas
Album: Point Of Know Return
Year: 1977

Lyrics:

He had a thousand ideas, you might have heard his name
He lived alone with his vision
Not looking for fortune or fame
Never said too much to speak of
He was off on another plane
The words that he said were a mystery
Nobody's sure he was sane

But he knew, he knew more than me or you
No one could see his view, Oh where was he going to

He was in search of an answer
The nature of what we are
He was trying to do it a new way
He was bright as a star
But nobody understood him
"His numbers are not the way"
He's lost in the deepest enigma
Which no one's unraveled today

But he knew, he knew more than me or you
No one could see his view, Oh where was he going to
And he tried, but before he could tell us he died
When he left us the people cried,
Oh where was he going to?

He had a different idea
A glimpse of the master plan
He could see into the future
A true visionary man
But there's something he never told us
It died when he went away
If only he could have been with us
No telling what he might say

But he knew, he knew more than me or you
No one could see his view
Oh, where was he going to
But he knew, you could tell by the picture he drew
It was totally something new,
Oh where was he going to?

  • Thumbs up if you're watching this in 1977.

  • I remember this album came out at the same time as the Cat Scratch Fever album and the Rumours album. Just killer music back in 1977.

  • @dextermorgan7777 Einstein, you dummy.

  • EINSTEIN for all you Christians who think this song is about Jesus.

  • thank you!!

  • wicked good upload

  • I was a huge Rush fan, and then a huge Yes fan, and now that I've heard every rush and yes song... its time I move onto a new band. I pick Kansas.

  • people that like prog rock should check out the dutch band "kayak". They play english music and give the AMAZING live performances.

oh and yes of course Kansas is still the best

  • @MrJohnboy006 Ahh yes....1976's "Left Overture" tour is still in my top 5 tours of all time.Rank it right up there with Pink Floyd's "Animals-In the Flesh", Yes "Relayer", Genesis "Trick of the Tail", and ELO's "Out of the Blue" tours.Funny, all prog rock bands.... I guess thats were the true talent is when playing live.

  • @SouthJerseyGuy1 Got to see them twice once in 1976 and then again in 1992. American prog rock at its best.

  • @rvhawkeye I know back when you were actually excited about music and wanted to get it.

  • nosradamas? r u nuts. as Archie Bunker said, 'you are a meathead'
