Great party combo: fermentation, time and inspiring song. (I love this song by Tom Petty.) (In bottles:fruit juice,sugar(1.5 cup/liter),wine yeast(doesn't make odor),water) Very easy to hide. Wait a couple of weeks.

  • i have question i read somewhere that it's important to put ballon or gloves like you did because it lets CO2 out and at the same time does not let air in. (Air cannot be introduced to the mix or it will become vinegar.)

is this true? and if we did not put balloon does it will work out? someone help thanks

  • @Sezar538

Covering a container with a loose piece of plastic with an elastic band is enough. There is a positive pressure pushing out the CO2. I have done it before many times without any airlock or airtight balloon.

  • I never thought of this, but I can't see why it wouldn't work.

    Very good choice of song!

  • The balloons work well as fermentation locks. Thanks for the good comment on the song. I have always liked Tom Petty's music.

  • Cool! this is for wine storing after you have opned the bottle?

  • These would need more steps before I could store them.I actually plan to freeze the wine and then spin it in a lettuce spinner to extract the alcohol.Alcohol freezes at a lower temp so when the water becomes ice the alcohol is still a liquid. The wine in the video are all experimental but will be around 12 percent when finished.I will pour from the bottle into a jug and let them settle out in the fridge for a few days to let the yeast settle on the bottom.I may use some campden to kill the yeast.
