it just happens that i've been trying to discover the possibilities of greasemonkey lately and this wasn't that type of thing that i thought it could do with it ...
i downloaded the script but i was not able to make it work even if it is activated ... when i open the script with the page it just turns blank .. appears to be loading but nothing happens :\
a bit of instructions would be greatly appreciated ...

@medianinja current version of flash player can't play with this script due to security policy, so this script is not maintenanced.
it maybe work if apply some patch for same-origin-policy to this script, and upload flv and patched script files to same host, but it's not fun for me(i want have fun with youtube or other video services:-).

he does suck that it's not supported for this version of flash :\ .. is there anymore developping being made on the scrpt so it can be used on the current version of flash ?
but i don't understand what you mean when you say that if i apply a patch for same-origin-policy ... wich policy ? and what patch ? is it possible to use this greasemonkey script outside the web ?

flash player 10 can't capture raster data of video frame that FLV source does not exist on same host with SWF file. so if your purpose is 'play ascii art on any video, any site', this technique is not work.
(if you can restrict play environment,)it maybe work if you downgrade the flash player to version 8...
'same-origin-policy' is security restriction in flash(actionscript).
