  • So what exactly is your definition of art? It seems like in this 21st century so many devalue what is beautiful and loves what is gory or that can't be represented. Kinkade has a good sense of lighting, composition, balance, theme, contrast, mood, unity, and depth. It takes ART EDUCATION to learn all that.

  • more of a capalist than an artist.

  • This guy makes want to have a drink, wops!

  • his artistry and creativity is completely devoted to salesmanship. His self promotion almost reminds me of damien hirst.

  • @NJTotire ...but it takes a REAL artist to forget it all to make an original work of expression. Kinkade never learned that.

  • I like the fact that he has some personality rather than obsess on talking about theory of art and rules of art. His seriousness is through his paintings as in his passion to paint and to warm peoples hearts. A lot people appreciate his work. The negative people talking shit through their keyboard couldn't possibly paint this. And if you can, then post your paintings on here, plus sell them.

  • @HonorahWalshe Just google search Thomas Kinkade public urination, or learn more about his recent DUI. He doesn't create anything, he vomits forth kitsch in the guise of Christian values to exploit a target demographic. Norman Rockwell illustrated those values you listed, and was a good enough man to re-examine his own work and evolve as an artist; he's the one whose work ought to be defended, not this literal con man, Thom.

  • @Sklurch How is he white trash and a hack? Explain please. Is it because he's well spoken, polite, a family man, interesting, able to create things that make others feel some happiness and nostalgia, or because he knows how to market himself in a positive way and has become successful?

  • @NJTotire I agree with everything except that it takes an Art Education to do that level of work, I disagree 100%, I hated every single art class for that exact reason, Yes i was always the top in my class, The reason is i didnt let any Teacher ever tell me how to think!!! Outside of tricks to achieve different affects, It had a negitive value, At least to me.

  • Maybe its just me, I do some amazing stuff and i understand hoe ego affects the next level of work, um! I simply think my motivations are different. I just like to make people happy through a piece i have done, lol. Its funny but i have heard this said so many times

  • in the words of Pablo Picaso " Art is a lie that makes us realize the truth"
