I think we are going to have to agree to disagree. I thinks it's disrespectful to call the president names at any time while on television. Bill Maher has used some profane words for many, many people including former president Bush. Did he call out Matt Lauer when he was face to face with George Bush and pointed his finger at him? (There is a video of it on YouTube.) I'm still inclined to call Bill Maher a hypocrite with double standards.

  • Brent he still has a better point

  • "Bill Maher is the man who used the Christopher Reeve riding-accident tragedy to rant against the cruelty of riding horses. This is the man who “'oked' in 2000 that he hoped O.J. Simpson had murdered Katherine Harris, Florida’s Republican secretary of state. This is the man dropped by ABC in 2001 for calling our fighter pilots 'cowards,' while the 9/11 terrorists who died flying into a building full of innocent people were 'not cowardly.' "

  • @diglightdig So here's what I think about the video: Maher is berating O'Reilly for not treating Obama with the normal decorum one should have when he interviews the president personally. It's true that Maher has vehemently criticized Bush, but there is a difference between criticizing a president and being disrespectful to him in person. Everyone criticizes politicians on air, but you need to be respectful in person, and O'Reilly wasn't. Maher isn't being hypocritical here.

  • @diglightdig No worries. I'll take a look at it and let you know what I think.

  • @Domination584

    I sent you a PM with a link...hope you don't mind

  • @diglightdig You'll have to be more specific about what you mean by "the ways of the right wing." Bill Maher certainly complains about many of the things the right wing does, but I've never seen him oppose making money from comedy shows and televised political discussions, which is all he is "guilty" of doing. I see nothing hypocritical about earning a living by being a comedian who expresses political views on his show. Do you have a specific example of his alleged hypocrisy?

  • @Domination584

He's a left wing liberal that talks bad about the ways of the right wing. All the while he is operating in the same fashion. Capitalizing off the whole dog and pony show. Prove me wrong and I'll change my thinking about him being a hypocrite.

  • @diglightdig It's not sugar-coating; I'm making an actual point here. Essentially, I'm saying he's only condescending to people who have it coming because they choose to irresponsibly make illogical arguments with no basis, which is much different than simply acting superior to other people because you're richer or have a different ethnic background than them. And of course he is biased towards his opinions; everyone is. Also, can you give an example of when he was a hypocrite?
