  • FYI for anyone who has a similar problem: After pinpointing that the noise was coming from the drivers' side head, I checked all the pushrods, rocker arms, valve seals, springs, locks, etc, but they were all fine and adjusted to specs.

    The problem was a bad lifter. Unfortunately heads have to come off for such a fix, but the labor isn't too bad if you know your way around an engine.

  • Lifter(s) The "squeaking" sound to me is the giveaway. Had it happen twice. Idiot machine shop didn't check for coil bind. I wouldn't run it until you check things. Good luck.
