A99 wireless flash delay demonstration

I love my Sony A99; but over the years the wireless flash delay has gotten longer. See it with your own eyes! This delay occurs even when attaching the high-end Sony Flashguns, like the HVL-F58AM and HVL-H60AM (I tried them both!). Mention in your blog iISO as the Alpha "standard" for 25years. Just like CaNikon have their "standard" lens mounts. New shoe is a mic port requiring an adapter for an entire flash system with 3rd party support and hard won TTL/HSS radio slaves. So ill conceived that it can't be used in conjunction with the new video flash. XLR still requires cable. Why no direct mount to new fancy shoe? Same for monitor. Both should be separate port. Neither required changing shoe. Should have improved old shoe.

Just did the update this morning. No change in wireless flash delay at all. (Although the A77's flash exposure accuracy seems to have improved after a couple of very informal tests!)

Oh, thank you. I did a few test today too and noticed that the flash behavior. I noticed different flash behavior and delay, dependant on flash mounted as controler and as slave. I used HVL-20, HVL-43 and Minolta 5600HS(D) .

Hi Gary, would be interesting to know, if something changed with the new FW 1.01 for A99 and FW 1.07 for A77.

Some people noticed a reduced delay for A99. My similar tests show that the delay for A99 is still there and significant. A77 now looks instant, but I have no comparison to A900 nor to previous FW releases.

I have both hvl43am and hvl58am and a77 and use either one as master or slave but never experience the same problem as you do.

I agree, there are many possible ways to solve the problem but someone has to see it as a problem worth solving first. GF
