  • Another way that you can see the effect of the high RF voltage field at the ends of a dipole antenna is to hold a fluorescent light tube near the antenna wire and watch it light up!

  • All the reason why you should use good quality end insulators on wire antennas and keep them elevated out of reach from the tallest person in the house.The high voltage end of a dipole is the ends and if someone comes in contact with the end it can be fatal.Good demonstration and every new ham should see this just to see that how "quick and dirty" antennas can be hazardous,especially in field day set ups.73,Don ,VO1XH
