ITV National Weather all began in September 1989. The first sequence consisted of the world spinning and a satellite flying, then the studio was shown with a silver ITV National Weather branding.

The opening sequence was changed a year later, with a globe zooming in and spins round. At the end of the sequence the ITV National Weather lands on the screen. Powergen logo was added on that sequence a year later. This opening sequence lasted untill spring 1993.

  • I think the Globe Idents were withdrawn in April 1993.

  • About that time. In January 1993, one of the builetin mentioned the oil spill in the Shetland islands and definately used the globe ident.

  • Still can't find a clip of the original ITV National weather, where the music was a lot louder and more in your face, this is the toned down version of late '89. Does anyone remember the original?

  • I've just found the video (page 44 of CentralSouth's videos) - judging by the other content my guess is 1 March 1993.

  • Oh, on the Dailymotion Site there's a User called CentralSouth. He's uploaded News at Ten and Weather from the time Jamie Bulger was burried, wasn't it from March 1993?

  • Sorry, that should be done the other way round.

  • Search for the filename 'itvweather.wmv' and select 'Search All' from the drop down list.

  • I also joined but i have trouble finding the very first forecast.

  • ITV National Weather actually commenced on 13 February 1989 - I joined Meldrum PP recently and found footage of an ITN bulletin (the killing of Pat Finucane the day before was mentioned) followed by the very first broadcast, presented by Alex Hill.
