The city and sessions court on Tuesday rejected the bail petition of actor Darshan, who was arrested for assaulting his wife Vijaylakshmi.
Sources said Darshan will file an appeal in the high court, challenging principal sessions judge RB Budhihal's order. Darshan will remain in judicial custody till September 23.
Darshan was arrested by the Vijayanagar police on September 9 after Vijayalakshmi filed a complaint against him. Darshan was charged under the provision of Indian Penal Code's sections 498a, 323, 324, 326, 354, 355, 506b and section 27 of the Arms Act.
On the same day, Darshan's friends and film stars—Ambareesh and Vijay Jaggesh—tried to strike a compromise between the couple.
Thereafter, Vijayalakshmi gave a statement before the court that she was injured after falling in the bathroom. She is ready to withdraw the case. The first additional chief metropolitan magistrate court (ACMM) had then sent Darshan to judicial custody for 14 days, but Darshan was admitted to Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Chest Diseases.
He then filed a bail petition before the session court since the
ACMM court did not consider his plea to remove the charges of attempt to murder case.
