On the 21 of july(!!!), 2009, me (Anna) and my brother (Erik) were guests on a Swedish morning show on national television, talking about the phenomenon that is Wizard Rock. There are a surprising amount of wrockers here in Sweden. Check out Wizrocklopedias list here:
http://wizrocklopedia.com/bands/band-locations/#SWE
and SHPF's longer list right here:
http://svenskahpfans.webs.com/band.html

We were so thrilled to get to do this! The Swedish wrock community has come this far because the bands are so supportive of each other. We help each other out with equipment, cheer earch other on at shows and in general just drag each other along to new adventures of awesomeness. We felt like we were representing this wonderful group of people and we enjoyed every minute of it.

There are optional subtitles for the video, and the full transcript is right here:

Hostess: Wizard Rock!

Host: That's right, Harry Potter is our next topic. That Harry Potter fever is everywhere. The new movie opened recently and is doing amazingly well.

Hostess: Yes, and now a music genre has been created with music about, of and inspired by Harry Potter. Welcome, Erik and Anna Fahlén.

Erik and Anna: Thank you.

Hostess: What is this, Wizard Rock? Please tell us.

Erik: Well, it's actually not a new phenomenon. This has been going on since about 2001 - 2002 in the USA. The first band was called Harry and the Potters and they sang songs about the books from Harry's point of view, specifically.

Anna: Yes, and since then many more bands have been formed, like Draco and the Malfoys. They represent the dark side a bit more and pick on Harry in their lyrics. Now there are bands about everyone.

Erik: At some point it exploded and everyone started a band for fun. Being good was never requiered.

Host: Did it reach Sweden at once or has this happened recently?

Erik: It has grown a lot recently, but we started in 2007. We were one of the first here, according to some.

Anna: Not quite first.

Erik: I think we were the first to record a song.

Hostess: And the lyrics, they are about Harry Potter?

Erik and Anna: Yes.

Erik: In different ways.

Host: How does it sound? You've brought a guitar.

Erik: I have a guitar.

Host: Let's hear some.

Erik: We can do a sample from what is probably our most known song. Our name is "The Swedish Shortsnouts", and a Shortsnout is a dragon breed in Harry Potter. So we're singing from the point of view of this dragon. At least sometimes.

Anna: In this song we do.

Erik: In this song the dragon is sulking because he's mentioned, like, once time in all seven books.

Erik and Anna:
♪ A small Swedish dragon is who I am,
but I still want to help beat Voldemort!

But that was apparently not to be,
I was way to far away.

All those thousands of pages should have been enough,
I should have gotten to be in it since I really want to.

But apparently I wasn't important enough,
I don't even know if I lived or died. ♪

Host and hostess: *applaud*

Host: So were do you perform with this music?

Erik: Well, as you might have guessed we don't haveregular gigs. The shows tend to be internal, among fans. We'll be playing at a show this afternoon, actually, at a Harry Potter symposium in Täby.

Host: What symposium is that?

Anna: It's called Expecto Patronum 2009 and is arranged by two girls named Hanna Kristofferson and Ellen Forselius and with great help from Mats at Täby Kommun who has helped with finding a place to have the symposium. There are a bit over 100 participants from all over the country and we've played Quidditch, had book discussions and so on.

Erik: We watched one of themovies, too. It's a lot of fun.

Hostess: Great! The best of luck to you then. Wizard Rock!

Anna and Erik: Thank you.

Hostess: Music inspired by Harry Potter.

Host: And soon there'll be fewer gigs out there since we heard this morning that the music festival Hulstfred is in danger...
