STORMY WEATHER by The Leaders 1955 on Glory label 78 rpm

The Leaders were a one-hit wonder. The group included Harry Burton, Nelson Shields, Edward Alston, Ronald Judge and Charles Simpson. They played at the Apollo in Los Angeles and were very popular there. In 1955, they signed a record deal with the Glory label and in the late summer of 1955, they recorded bluesy rendition of "Stormy Weather". A few of the words were changed from the popular version of this song. The band that backed them up included Mickey Baker, Sam The Man Taylor and Panama Francis. Two additional records followed, but none had the same success as their first, and the contract with Glory records was not renewed. Their records were released on 78 rpm and 45 rpm records. This one is a 78 rpm.

What is the 'click' at 26 seconds?? The same thing is on the 45 rpm version, likely from the original recording.

What's not to like? This is the classiest version of this song. I think I was 15 years old when it came out. I'm a great-grandmother now, and still love my Doo-Wop. Thanks for posting it. It's not on ITunes, so I can't put it on my IPod. Does anybody know another Website that sells oldies I might check out? Thanks.......URD BEST!
