This tutorial is an explanation of how to create and use a DIY IR transmitter that you can use to trigger your DSLR cameras from your iPhone. The iPhone is running an app called DSLR.bot. You can view the whole written tutorial with detailed images at the link below:

  • thanks a lot for the tutorial, just made my own remote works perfectly!!

  • @gizaradoniqi Awesome, thanks for the feedback, enjoy!

  • I'm receiving Invalid IPA. I'm running 3.1.3. I also tried it from my wife's iPhone without luck :(

  • @myemailisfull Hmm, perhaps DSLR.bot requires 4.0?

  • Before a million people ask, the end song is the Intro song, off the album xx by The xx. (Great choice)

  • @MykTheGreek It is indeed! Thanks, it's one of my favorites.

  • Just had the engineer at my work make it, a tv app downloaded via android market didn't work, hopefully when I get home I can test it with my nex vg20, hopefully otherwise Im going to just go buy the parts instead of stealing them from remotes

  • Hi, thanks for the tutorial. I built this tonite for use with DSLRbot and Nikon D90. It's not controlling the D90. However I think they may have sent me the wrong LEDs. I ordered 5mm 940nm - but when I click shoot, the LEDs flash. I thought they were supposed to be invisible?

    thx

  • hello friend, could you translate your video into Spanish and Spanish that many of us want to learn from your technique to manage the camera from an iPhone ... can be a question from a mac?

  • Can I use the LED from VCD player remotes?

  • Will this work with RedEye app from the iphone

  • Just a tip for those who don't want to DIY, I found that using an IR extender (like the one included with a VCR) works perfectly for the same purpose. Just be sure that it has a 3.5 mm tip.
