In this video I show you how to use your Roland VS1880 as a control surface for the Reaper software daw.

EDIT: Disregard the part where I tell you to assign the odd numbered tracks to the left and even numbered to the right. You should not have to do that. Once it's set up correctly, you can keep it assigned to the left input.

  • other than a built in burner, are there any other differences between the 1880 and 1824

  • Don't know if I'll try this. I have the Edirol and a couple of VS1880s but HATE using PCs so much to make music. I'll have a look around to see what Reaper does and how it might improve things for me. However, you're a clever bloke and THANK YOU for doing this. Be lucky OK? You deserve it!

  • Simply, you're STAAARRRR!

  • Can do this with Logic Pro? if so are there digital to firewire converters?!

  • Well done.

  • @Chuck4Abuck It is the demo song they used to include with Reaper back in the day. I don't think they include it anymore.

  • what song is that on the intro ??

  • I think you are now ready to run for public office

  • That's great news! Thanks funkybeat007!

  • @soulvibee

In this setup, the VS is only used as a controller for Reaper. Everything (audio, etc) still remains in Reaper.
