My band just got the music to play this song yesterday and we are all very excited. Our director had us listen to recording and it gave us all goosebumps! It was amazing! We can't wait to play it!!
My band played this two years ago, this isnt a great recording and a lot of parts are pretty shaky, and some completely fall apart. This song is actually pretty sick
My band director took a moment to explain this piece to us today.
The piece is intended to be played in complete darkness, (as instructed on the back of the conductor's score) which means that it needs to be memorized. My director told us that when he saw the piece performed everyone had individual flashlights to light under their chins, and people would come off the stage and into the audience, (who didn't know they were they, mind you) turn on their flashlights, and whisper, 'voodoo'.
i preformed this piece roughly three years ago, what we did is we had dark colored gels on music stands. It was still difficult to read but because of the color of the gells it made this piece just that much more creepy. Blessings !
And...? lol. Did you have to read in the dark? Our wind ensemble is doing it right now, im not in wind ensemble but im curious to see how they will pull it off
