That was a very concise and thorough guide. I'd already flashed my DS, and I had no problems, but this video would have been great to watch just before, to stop me being so nervous about it. :P

Passme is a device, which plugs into SLOT-2 (GBA/RAM/Rumble/Camera slot), that allows you to boot DS code and ROMS. Any original NDS game needs to be used in conjunction with Passme in order for Passme to work. A Passcard does exactly the same as Passme, except it does not require a NDS game as it plugs into SLOT-1 (NDS game slot). If running homebrews and ROMs is what you want, an easier way around it is to pick up a cart with built-in Passme. Simply install firmware via PC, plug in, then play.
