9.30 is Preston Flag market and Harris museum, some of this was filmed in and around Preston
-
Alan Bates was so handsome
-
A raw, powerful and brilliant film...though hard to see why it troubled the censor all those years ago.
-
Wow, this looks fantastic! Thank you so much. You know, posting movies online is one way of keeping them alive. I live in a Communist place, and can ask my library to legally buy movies, books, whatever, in any language, and they usually do, paying full price, so it's good support for the arts after all!
-
@globalman Yeah pretty dreamy!
-
Gosh I had forgotten how Alan Bates looked back then. He was incredibly handsome as well as becoming a fine actor.
-
It was filmed in Radcliffe Gtr Manchester. The Park bench scene was filmed in Coronation Park on Bury New Road. One of my all time favourite films. The bus conductor was Alf Roberts in Coronation Street. Thora Hird played the Mum and Jack Smethurst (Love thy Neighbour) played his drunken pal, Brilliant!
-
@garryentropy , not really...
-
Excellent film of its time. I remember seeing it in a Nottingham cinema many years ago, when films had the old X certificate. Quite racy in its day. Thanks for loading :)
-
@grizcuz Brilliant! Even though I've never met you, or your Dad, it's info like that, that for me, makes Youtube worthwhile. Thanks, Billy. Cheshire.
-
ingrid looks like kim novak
-
My dad wrote the sign on the back of the bus that pulls away at 7:54. His claim to fame that was!
-
Apparently the shot at 5:05 was one of the first naked breasts in English Film and caused quite a hoohah
-
I think the bus conductor was also in Coronation Street. He played a shop keeper, but I can't recall his character name.
-
Is the old lady wth the glasses on talking to the other lady, Violet Carson, who played Ena Sharples in Coronation Street?
-
@Weenybean Thanks for posting. Your efforts are certainly applauded here. I just can't deal with that naked man. And, so, once again, I had to deal with that image! Oh, the horror !
-
If you only knew how much trouble I had posing for it. Alas...we all have our cross to bear.
-
Nice.....I come looking for a good film and I have to deal with a naked man holding up a globe.
-
English kitchen films, similar to soapies only far more watchable & memorable, great job Schlesinger and Bates & Thora Hird and the rest of the cast.
-
