From Their First Album "Gemini "
Recorded ( By Abba, Unreleased..1982 )
Released ( By Gemini In 1985 )
Written And Produced By Bjorn Ulvaeus And Benny Andersson.
Gemini is an album by Gemini released in 1985. The album features songwriting contributions from artists such as Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, formerly of ABBA, and Anders Glenmark and Ingela Forsman. Two songs were of particular interest: "Slowly", a song written by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, was previously recorded by ABBA's Anni-Frid "Frida" Lyngstad and the unreleased ABBA song "Just Like That" was re-written and included on this LP. Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus contend that the inclusion of this new version of "Just Like That" means that the ABBA version cannot be released since they feel there can't be two official versions of a song with the same title that are so similar and yet so different.
Gemini are a Swedish brother and sister duo, consisting of Karin Glenmark and Anders Glenmark. The duo released two original albums: Gemini (1985) and Geminism (1987). Both albums reached the Swedish Top 20, while their success was limited to Scandinavia. Their only truly international release was the single "Just Like That" (formerly recorded and, as yet, officially unreleased by ABBA).
Prior to their work as Gemini, Karin and Anders had been part of Glenmarks (with their Uncle Bruno and Aunt Ann-Louise Hanson) and also released two singles together, with 1985's 'Kall som is' ('Cold As Ice') being placed 4th at Melodifestivalen (the Swedish heats for the Eurovision Song Contest 1986.) The winner of Melodifestivalen, Herreys, went on to win the Eurovision Song Contest with 'Diggi-Loo Diggi-Ley' and recorded a version of 'Kall som is' for their album.

" JUST LIKE THAT "

The hours pass so slowly
now that he's gone
one day is like another
bet they move on
Somehow I have returned
to the land of the living
but badly burned
I never had the chance of
keeping him here
The song of sirens
was to strong in his ear
And when tomorrow calls
Who would pace like a prisoner
within four walls

Just like that
He slipped into my life
As smug as a cat
He was handsome and smart
Walked away with my heart
Just like that
He took a temporary home in my flat
Telling innocent lies
Throwing dust in my eyes
But I led him on
In a way I was the one to deceive
Always accepting the fact he would leave
Just like that
As though he'd only
stopped a while for a chat
But my secrets he learned
Leaving no stone unturned

And when the day is new
the sun in the sky
Who needs the confrontation
saying good-bye
Who needs that kind of strain
When you're born with an instinct
to shun such pain

Just like that
He slipped into my life
As smug as a cat
He was handsome and smart
Walked away with my heart
Just like that
He took a temporary home in my flat
Telling innocent lies
Throwing dust in my eyes
But I led him on
In a way I was the one to deceive
Always accepting the fact he would leave
Just like that
As though he'd only
stopped a while for a chat
But my secrets he learned
Leaving no stone unturned

  • a masterpiece !

  • even after so many years, so beautiful a song, so good to hear! Quality in sound and compoisition always stay!

  • An angel's voice.... 10 out of 100!

  • It's an interesting version. Its the Abba harmonys and also erfectly arranged but with the early 80's sound (drums, reverb..), combined with Bennys favourite synths.

The reason why it sounds so old and outdated is the mixing, the lower quality sound processing and recording (i think it was not digital recorded), also the song is a little bit too slow and the pitch to deep. However, it's piece abba-history!
