that style of kicking reminds me of the rider kick lol

interesting. this style seems very familiar to hapkido, from where is it ?

@somrmojo I agree to a large extent; practicing such moves does have it's merit in terms of physical benefits. A point to note is not to get too carried away with practicing flashy moves, to the point where one INSTINCTIVELY throws a high-risk move in a snap. Sure, many people say, "Nah, of course I won't do that!" Oh yeah? Once you begin to acquire muscle-memory of the move's mechanics, it can become a habit.. a BAD habit. All it needs is ACTUAL combat - somebody's going to get hurt real bad!

@86HairMetal I agree. Not much margin for error if the kick is not effective. Alot of opportunity to counter if the executor of the kick does not apply it perfectly. But the physical benefits and skill to be able to perform that kick usually indicates they can do much more.

I would be so tempted to step to the side and pull him into a wall behind me. Smackaroo! But I agree w/ ookna down there...and I would see it.

What most people dont realize, is that only another martial artist or someone who has been trained how to actually fight isnt going to see this coming. A normal persons first thought is "This guy is gonna tackle me!" So theyll brace themselves for it, and by the time they realize it, the kick is already on its way. I actually did this to a guy once when I was younger, and it worked well. Full on in the chest, and the fight was done before it began. Would I rely on it? Never. Possible? Of course!
