Perhaps the first solidly documented record of Green Violetear for Kerr County Texas. This bird showed up at the Isom's feeders, Ingram, and was first seen on 22 May 2009. They graciously allowed me to film and document the bird. There are less than fifty documented records of this bird for the US, 95% of them in Texas, and most in the Hill Country. Though it has generally been considered a post-nesting wanderer from the mountains of northern Mexico, there is some postulation that it might be a low density breeder in the Texas Hill Country. There have been about a dozen reports from Kerr County over the years, but documentation has been hard to come by. It is noted that there is another film posted on YouTube of a bird at Ingram in 2008, that i did not know about until i posted this one . . . At the same time the bird i filmed was present (1 June 2009) another bird was present less than ten miles away just over the county line in Gillespie County, perhaps a first documented record for that county (it was photographed). Thanks to the Isoms and to Tom Collins.
