  • nice video, i am on vacation in Puget Sound and will be going crabbing Thursday and hope to get my 5 of dungeness and rock crabs.

  • @citrix69 Good luck on crab trip. If you get the chance try them hot out of the cooker. (You'll need to let them cool a bit of course:) I like mine with a cold brew. Stay safe on the water.

  • He is truly foolish, he just rinsed away ALL the flavor. the guts are sooo tasty.

  • To each his own I guess. Lots of people like the crab butter that's left in the back of the shell. I'm not one of them.

  • Thanks for posting this video. You saved last night's dinner from disaster. I couldn't find any info elsewhere on how to clean crabs after they've been cooked.

  • Thanks for the comment. My guess was that there were a lot of peoplle that didn't buy crab because they didn't know what to do with it. I've had people tell me they just ate the legs and tossed the rest. Ouch!

Agree with you. Also, crab are bottom feeders and exposed to industrial waste in many areas where they are harvested commercially. Removal of innards, particularly before cooking, reduces the potential that we are consuming those toxins.

  • The orientals eat the guts and lungs I have heard. I wonder if the lungs are any good? They are kind of tender and soft greyish color, almost look like a human brain or something. Maybe they have nutritional value.

  • Dungeness crabs are fun to clean. I just cleaned 100 lbs of them. I scoop the guts out with a spoon, and the guts have the consistency of feta cheese when they aren't frozen. They are extremely messy.

  • Thank you so very much!! My mom always cleans these, and tonight I am cleaning my own for the first time.

  • Thanks for this great video! Cooking my first dungeness tonight!

  • ummm if you're paying $9/lbs you better eat that butter

  • eww... you should clean it before you cook it. you just stewed the meat in guts.

  • Good video, I usually wash out the body because I don't want to eat what they eat.
